ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Nov. 8, 2024 – Kearney & Company Chairman Ed Kearney was named “Executive of the Year” in the $75-300 million revenue category at the 22nd Annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards® (GovCon Awards) this week. Each year, the GovCon Awards are jointly presented by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (NVC) and the Professional Services Council (PSC).

According to NVC and PSC, “the award is presented to a Greater Washington-area government contracting executive who is recognized for making outstanding contributions to his/her company, the community, and the government contracting industry during the past year. Kearney was selected for this honor due to his transformative leadership at Kearney & Company, which has become a government contracting leader rooted in people-first values. Since founding the firm in 1985, [he] has prioritized a ‘Best Place to Work’ culture as a key business strategy, resulting in exceptional workforce stability, program continuity, and high client satisfaction.”

When Kearney founded the firm, it comprised two employees. Under his stewardship as Chief Executive Officer, Kearney & Company grew into the premier audit, consulting, and technology firm focused on the government that it is today. His leadership and employee-focused management have helped the firm maintain a steady increase in revenue and employee retention for nearly four decades. In contemplating the future of the firm, Kearney transitioned into the new role of Chairman earlier this year, though his vision for the firm will not change.

While accepting the award, Kearney referred to a former baseball coach who said that a great coach is made by great players.

“I’ve been supported by many people and many great players in a great company,” Kearney said. “Our number one corporate goal is to be voted a best place to work by our employees, and I can tell you that we’ve achieved that goal for eleven years running….It confirms the fact that strategy is important, but culture and people are even more important.”
